Notes to the Teacher
5 suggestions for improving class curriculum and instruction:
- More informal academic writing to spice up the writing a little.
- Less focus on reader response theory and more on archetypes.
- Maybe a little explanation for the Gertrude Stein passage.
- Less ambiguous directions for assignments.
- More Class Discussion.
4 ways you could have helped me learn better:
- The usage of more examples when teaching us diagramming could have helped me learn it faster and with less difficulty.
- More punctuation practice within class could've helped as most of it was done at home which left me confused for quite some time.
- When you used frequent deadlines (like with the research paper) it helped me to not procrastinate as much as usual, so I would speculate that use of the deadlines more often could have really helped me complete tasks on time, which in turn, would have given me more time to divert my attention to studying.
- Lastly, a lot of the time I felt like you did not care about how we did on our assignments, so as a result, that indifference did not motivate me to attempt to do my best. I feel if there was that motivation it could've helped me learn more successfully this year.
